The Durham Council of Garden Clubs was founded in 1929 in federation with the National Garden Club and The Garden Club of North Carolina, Inc. The Council served more than eight decades as the umbrella group for garden clubs and junior garden clubs in Durham, NC. Today, Durham Garden Clubs continue the same mission of philanthropic projects of preservation, conservation, education and beautification under District 9 of the Garden Clubs of NC.

Friends of the Durham County Library
The Friends of the Durham County Library has a critical need of book donations for its spring and ongoing satellite book sales. The library accepts used books, CDs and DVDs. (No textbooks, encyclopedias, magazines or cassettes.) Donations can be taken to any branch of the Durham Library. The sales of used books by the Friends of the Durham Library earns approximately $100,000/year which finances many library programs including the summer reading program, college scholarships for library staff and Durham Reads. For more information, visit http://www.durhamcountylibrary.org/friends.php#donate. If you have a large donation (more than 4 boxes) contact Aviva Starr, avivas@exchangefamilycenter.org to arrange. Donations are tax-deductible.
