Council concludes 2012-2013: New officers installed, Presidents recognized

The Durham Council of Garden Clubs wrapped up its 2012-2013 fiscal year at the May 7th meeting at the Hill House, Durham.

During the meeting new officers were installed for the 2013-2015 term and a proposed budget was discussed. The new budget incorporated monies for either a short-term or long-term community project in Durham County. During the last four years the Council has given $2,000+ gifts to: The Durham Rescue Mission, Keep Durham Beautiful, and the Briggs Avenue Community Garden. Discussion will ensue over the summer as to goals and feasibility for future projects. Newly installed President Marcia L. is excited to hear input from all of the clubs via e-mail.

After the meeting was a celebration and recognition luncheon for outgoing Co-Presidents Jean G. and Marty W. The luncheon was held at the Hope Valley Country Club. Both ladies had served as president for two terms and Jean will continue as 2nd Vice President to Marcia for the new term.
