To spread awareness about the plight the honey bee (our state insect), BeeAwarenessNC designed a NC “Save the Honey Bee” specialty license plate. The DMV requires 500 completed orders to be turned in by the end of March 30. (One hundred more orders are still needed!)
The plate will then go to the NC legislature to be passed as a bill. At that point, the Save the Honey Bee plate would be a featured as a permanent DMV specialty plate option. Funds from this plate will go to support BeeAwarenessNC's Honey Bee Habitat on Grandfather Mountain (completion date 5/2015) and for Honey Bee research at NC state. The Durham Council of Garden Clubs was founded in 1929 in federation with the National Garden Club and The Garden Club of North Carolina, Inc. The Council served more than eight decades as the umbrella group for garden clubs and junior garden clubs in Durham, NC. Today, Durham Garden Clubs continue the same mission of philanthropic projects of preservation, conservation, education and beautification under District 9 of the Garden Clubs of NC.
